Coach Richardson submits nomination to "Rams to Remember"

Wrestling Team Nominee Winter 09-10

Dale Cutler
Wrestling

Dale Cutler (class of ’63) wrestled for Coach Gordon Norman and was Rockford’s first State Placer in wrestling placing third in 1962 and again in 1963. While wrestling was a relatively new sport at Rockford, starting as a varsity sport in 1959, Dale was a hard worker and improved with every match. He was a team leader and one of the most experienced wrestlers on both the 1962 and 1963 teams. After graduation Dale served his country in Vietnam and won two Bronze stars, two Purple Hearts, and one Army Commendation Medal. Dale was the most decorated Native American from Michigan during the Vietnam War Era. Every Memorial Day Dale would march proudly with his flag in local events. Dale left this earth July 27, 2009. He was a true example of a hard working individual and certainly an outstanding part of the Rockford Wrestling tradition.

Congratulations, Dale!

Congratulations to two Seniors!

Jake Johnson and Jake Byers recently signed letters of intent to wrestle at Eastern Michigan University next year. The official visit took place on October 3rd. Both young men have an extensive list of accomplishments at Rockford, and we know they will be wonderful assets to Eastern's program.

Jake Johnson, whose parents are John and Julie, is coming off a 48-5 season. He was runner up last year, and placed 5th his sophomore year. He has an overall record of 142-20. In addition, his brother JJ is a captain at EMU this year!

Jake Byers, whose parents are Dan and Marlene, is coming off a 48-2 season. He was runner up last year, 4th his sophomore year, and 8th his freshman year. He has an overall record of 129-19.

Congratulations to both Jakes. We know that you will be successful both on and off the mat!
